Hi David,
I am thinking of running a multiple country site. The UK, USA and possibly Canada.
What I am thinking of, is, instead of creating three separate sites, I would like
to combine the three in one.
Basically what I am looking to do is to have one search box, and people would be able to
pick the country they want from a drop down menu.
eg: They type in "vitamin c" and select the country they wish to retrieve results
for and press search. On the "pto" imbedded page, all results for UK would be pulled.
Another example, a US customer comes along and would like to buy "protein powder", they type
protein powder and select USA, and on the pto page the US search results would be pulled from
the US database.
Now, I am wondering if it is possible to combine one search box with a drop down menu,
and pull data from three separate databases with the wordpress plugin? Basically for one site.
If I recall, I have seen somewhere in your forums where people have combined something similar.
Thanks.
Norbert
Thanks David for the quick reply.
I will let you know if I have problems.
Thanks.
Norbert
Hello Norbert,
Sure - this should work fine for a niche site. The first step would be to add "country" as a custom field to your Price Tapestry database (http://www.pricetapestry.com/node/3094) and further, modify so that it works in the same way as the category and brand fields whereby you can enter a value on Feed Registration Step 2 instead of selecting a field (http://www.pricetapestry.com/node/3094#comment-18735).
Let me know when that is in place, or of course if you're not sure about of the above steps just let me know, and I'll talk you through modifying the plugin to include what is effectively a "countryFilter", but included in the search form...
Cheers,
David.
