Hi, and welcome to the forum!

Joomla doesn't have a specific built-in multi-site functionality in the same way that is included with WordPress. What is supported there is the capability to use the site ID of a WordPress multi-site installation to reference a specific Price Tapestry installation.

Could you perhaps describe a little more about how you envisage setting your site being set up and I'll have a think about the most practical installation structure of Joomla / Price Tapestry to achieve what you have in mind...

Thanks,
David.

Hi David,

Thanks. I have been thinkin about something similar to this {link saved} in terms of navigation, category filters and search functionality. The site uses 1 installation of PT per category and i believe its on wordpress. Im not familiar with wordpress in the same way as i am with joomla. The reason i ask about the multi installs on joomla is because the html looks easier to modify in joomla than it does in the searchresults.php file for example!!

At the moment im just playing around with it PT to see how i can change the layout and look of the various html elements and trying to get to grips with how it works in general.

Many Thanks

Hi,

Yes - the template method of the plugins is generally an easier concept than the html/* files of a standalone distribution. I've had a search and there seem to be a number of multi-site commercial plugins for Joomla; but since I guess the main thing is having a consistent theme throughout, if you are on a VPS hosting account (or have a dedicated server), there is no reason why each installation's /templates/ folder cannot be a symbolic link to a single, common /templates/ folder, from where you can make global changes to the look & feel.

Each installation can then point to a single Price Tapestry installation; and if you designate one installation as your "master", from where you make all the template changes (administrator > Components > PriceTapestry.org) you can use the Export / Import settings to easily transfer your templates to other installations.

If this would be practical, I could easily create a simple modification for you to export the HTML templates only, which could be imported on your other category installations whilst leaving the actual plugin settings alone..

Cheers,
David.
