/function.file-get-contents Added to links in Google Webmaster

Submitted by ajmboy on Wed, 2013-06-12 13:08 in

I found a bunch of 404 errors in Google webmaster tools with urls that are getting appended with/function.file-get-contents

So it looks like:

/product/2005-Dodge-Magnum-Wheel-Hub-Replacement.html/function.file-get-contents

Is there a sitemap somewhere? If so, what would be the url?

Hi ajmboy,

That's an interesting one - function.file_get_contents is how the php.net website indexes the PHP function reference! If GWT is showing it as a 404, then somehow, somewhere, I guess it has discovered a link to that.

Yes - the script does generate a sitemap, which would only be known about by your GWT account if it had been submitted but worth checking anyway, the URL is

/shopping?pto_sitemap=xml

(where /shopping is the Container permalink (the page containing the [pto] shortcode)

If you can identify the merchant(s) that the 2005-Dodge-Magnum-Wheel-Hub-Replacement.html product URL derives from, look for that merchant's actual sitemap URL in the index, and then request that manually in your browser and double check that the links look OK...

Cheers,
David.
