Copy PT Settings to New Site

I'm so happy with the PT/WP plugin that I want to roll it out to a new site :) . I have made some changes to the plugin files, so I'm planning to copy those straight over (I just merged with your latest update last night). I have also made quite a few changes to the Settings page and I would like to use the same settings as a starting point for my new site. Do you think it would work to simply copy the appropriate db table(s) from the existing PT db to the new one? Or do you have another idea on how to replicate the settings from one installation to another?

On a similar note, could I also copy the filter table(s) from one site to another? Do you have any concerns?

Thanks for all your help,
Gregor

Hi Gregor,

Filters are a function of the associated Price Tapestry installation rather than the plugin so these could be transferred easily using the Database Tool of your Price Tapestry installation. Global filters are included with feeds and feed specific filters but that shouldn't cause a problem as if there is no associated feed on the installation that the backup file is being restored to they will simply be ignored.

Otherwise, yes simply copy across your modified /wp-content/plugins/pto/ files to your new installation but as yet (although it is on the ToDo list as we establish the best way to save / edit the HTML files) you would need to duplicate across your HTML settings, probably the easiest way would be a copy / paste with 2 windows open on the source / destination site settings pages; but I am very aware of the requirement to either make this exportable; or perhaps more likely revert to a directory / file based storage of the HTML templates whilst making them editable within the Settings page if the folder is WRITEable, as is the case with other WordPress features...

Cheers,
David.
