I'm just trying to use the plugin for the first time after all these years!! I have a fresh install using the latest PT version 16.10.
I have obviously done something wrong but can't see what!

I search for vegetable seeds but it doesn't display any, nor does it show any report.
On this post - {link saved} there is the short code [pto search="vegetable seeds"], but it simply reports no results to display.
In the PT section it displays lots of results for vegetable seeds

The first configuration issue I think I can spot is the baseHREF settings (in the plugin), for Merchant / Category / Brand Base HREF settings (wp-admin > Settings > PriceTapestry.org). I notice, from the /shopping/ page that clicking these links is going into the Price Tapestry installation itself, rather than the plugin generated index pages. From what I can tell, using Merchant Base HREF as an example, the setting is
/homeandgardenshop/merchant...but should be:
/merchant(and similarly for Category / Brand Base HREF plugin settings)
I don't think that's the core issue since as you indicated, a test search does not even populate the search box with the query...
If you could check the above, and assuming still no results when clicking Merchant (below the search box on /shopping/ page in WordPress), if you could email me the following files;
wp-config.php (WordPress config file)
homeandgardenshop/config.php (Price Tapestry config file)
...i'll check it out further with you...
