product feed problem

Submitted by xslinx on Tue, 2012-04-10 13:01 in

Hi David,

We've been trying to register a niche datafeed from affiliate4u.
Here's the xml feed: {link saved}

When I register the feed, only 3 fields turn up: ATTRIBUTE - TITLE - VALUE

I think this has to do with step 1 (feed format) I'm using: xml|DATAFEED/OFFERS/OFFER/ATTRIBUTES/ATTRIBUTE/

Do I have to change this format?

Best regards,
Jaimy

Hello Jaimy,

Yes - all that's happened is the parser has auto-detected the wrong element since there are more attribute elements than offer elements in the feed. On Feed Registration Step 1, edit the auto-detected format string down to just:

xml|DATAFEED/OFFERS/OFFER/

...and all should then work fine...

Cheers,
David.

Hi David,

Thanks a lot, that works perfect again!

I've also got another question for you.
Is it possible that the widget "PriceTapestry.org Search Filters" does not work in a left content side-bar?
It seems to disapear when I move the widget from right side-bar to left side-bar.

Best regards,
Jaimy

Hello Jaimy,

Yes - I have come across this before it happens because the SQL used by the filters widget is only generated when the search results are created, so if the page is rendered left - middle - right the widget doesn't pick up the necessary SQL.

I will be fixing this in the distribution but in the mean time, if you could email me your pto.php and pto_search.php i'll add the fix for you...

Cheers,
David.

Hello David,

Could you check another feed for me, being: {link saved}

Any chance you can figure out the the auto-detected format string for me?

Best regards,
Jaimy

Hello Jaimy,

The feed is currently empty in terms of products - if you enter the feed URL into your browser you will see that only a header element is returned, and whilst it refers to what looks like the number of product records that should be included, the <data> element itself is currently empty.

This is often a transient error - try the same feed again after 24 hours and the problem may have resolved itself; otherwise if you contact technical support at the affiliate network providing the feed and let them know the exact feed URL you are requesting they should be able to idenify any problem...

All the best,
David.

Hello Hans,

Do you mean a feed problem, or the issue with sidebar filters widget not working when being included in a left-hand widget area (this thread)...

If it's a feed issue, if you could perhaps post the URL of your Price Tapestry installation and filename of the feed (I'll remove the details before publishing your reply) I'll download it from your /feeds/ folder to my test server and check it out for you.

If it's the sidebar filters issue, let me know and I'll email you patched files which should resolve the problem (and will be included in an update to PriceTapestry.org for WordPress to be released shortly after the Joomla version goes into beta)

Cheers,
David.
