Category Mapping

Submitted by cclayton on Thu, 2017-09-28 15:29 in

Hi David,

I am trying to create a hierachy of categories but am struggling. So I have a ticket as my product and this is in the category of "London Bus Ticket" and was imported with that category. I then want that category to be part of a bigger category such as "UK Bus Tickets" which is then broken down into the regions which includes "London Bus Ticket". I tried doing this using the Category Hierachy Mapping but when I click on UK Bus Tickets nothing shows on the page.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Chris

Hello Chris,

Even though you have created a node in the category hierarchy of "London Bus Ticket" you would still need to map the feed category of the same name into this node in the hierarchy as this isn't automatic (technically that would be possible, although category hierarchy node names only need to be unique where they have the same parent, so the situation could arise where it is not definite which node to automatically map into).

So having created your hierarchy UK Bus Tickets > London Bus Tickets, click Configure alongside London Bus Tickets and then use the search form to locate the feed category of the same name and click the << to add the feed category as an =Exact Match alternative. Finally, re-import any applicable feeds, and the products should then appear when browsing by category hierarchy as expected...

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
David.

Hi David,

I am still a little confused by this,

Category in datafeed = "Kitchen DiningTablewareServewareServing Trays"
Category Hierarchy Mapping = Homeware / Tableware / Servingware
Alternative =Kitchen DiningTablewareServewareServing Trays

When I import into wordpress the category appears as kitchen-diningtablewareservewareserving-trays without any hierarchy. Should I be expecting wordpress to replicate the levels of category?

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,

It sounds like category hierarchy mapping isn't enabled in the plugin - from /wp-admin/ > Settings > PriceTapestry.org scroll down to the External section and make sure that the drop down next to $config_useCategoryHierarchy is TRUE - that should be all is...

Cheers,
David.
