Multisite install how to

Submitted by marco@flapper on Fri, 2011-11-04 09:30 in

Hi,
I'm trying to install it according to the instructions at:

http://www.pricetapestry.org/node/63

But I think I don't get the instructions right. Because I don't see any products on the Wordpress page. I can see them at the PT page.

Hi Marco,

I went to look at your installation URL from your notes, e.g.

http://www.example.be/pt_1/

...but it returns 404 so that may be the problem; double check the URL and update Base HREF and Install Path as required under wp-admin > Settings > PriceTapestry.org > External and that should be all it is;

If not, let me know the installation URL and also the value of Container Permalink that you have used and I'll investigate further...

Cheers,
David.

Hi,
Could you investigate further?

PS:
The network of the host is experiencing some problems. That's why you sometimes get the 404.

Hi Marco,

Both links look fine. Would it be OK to have temporary access to /wp-admin/ ? If that would be OK please could you email me access details and also attach a copy of your /pt_1/config.php and I'll take a look,

Thanks,
David.

I forgot the PT database should be in the Wordpress database. It is working now.

I'm wondering on the impact of that. I'm setting up a multisite wordpress with multiple websites and multiple pt some with many products. How will this interfere with Wordpress overall performance? The feeds can be very big.

Thanks.

Hi Marco,

That's great.

Don't worry about the size of your products table affecting WordPress performance as ultimately tables are just files on the hard disk and the size of one table in the database won't affect performance of queries being made against the smaller tables.

Cheers,
David
